Off Hire Bunker Survey

Off Hire Bunker Survey

Vessel going off hire, we conducted a bunker survey to report on the bunkers on board at the time of inspection, and estimated quantities at the date and time vessel is expected to go off hire.

Magnetic Compass adjusting off Lomé

Magnetic Compass adjusting and issuance of New Deviation Card

The vessel’s magnetic deviation values exceeded the accepted limits. The compass needed calibration/adjusting then.
We successfully conducted the compass adjusting and issued new Deviation Card.

STS superintendence

STS Superintence in Port

Double banking (STS) operation in port (at berth). Our mission was to oversee all the operation from beginning to end, assist Master and make sure everything goes well throughout the operation, protecting owners interests.
Full satisfaction for owners at the end.

Hull Damage Survey

Hull Damage Survey

A bulk carrier, moored for loading phosphates. A storm raised and mooring lines broke out. The ship’s side shell plaiting came several times in contact with a sharp equipment used for reconstruction of the berth fenders (works in progress at the time). As a result, the vessel suffered hull damages (hull structure holed and torn in way of the side shell plating, above the water line).
We conducted a survey/investigation to report on the nature, cause and extent of the damages, as well as the circumstances leading to the damage.
The vessel later came to Lomé Port for repairs, before going back to continue the loading operation.

Collision survey in ports

UMECS Experts during a collision Survey in Port

During berthing manoeuvring, an oil tanker lost engine and was proceeding desperately towards a bulk carrier moored just ahead of the tanker berth.
Relatively slight contact occurred between both vessels. We have been appointed to conduct a collision survey and report on the nature, cause and extent of damages sustained by both vessels.
Survey and investigation conducted successfully, with client entire satisfaction.

Draught survey and phosphate cargo loading survey

Draft Survey and loading superintendence

Draft Survey conducted for phosphate cargo loading in Kpémé and Lomé Ports (Togo)

  • Initial Draft Survey
  • Final Draft Survey

Operation conducted using own instruments (Zeal Draft Survey Hydrometer for sea water density, Refractometer for ballast water density, etc.)
We are proud to conduct our duties with diligence and professionalism

STS/Oil quantity and quality surveys

Oil quantity and quality surveys completed by UMECS Experts during STS Operation.

In this operation, the mother vessel, loaded with 80,000 MT of Heavy Fuel Oil (HFO) in Rotterdam, arrived in Lomé anchorage to deliver the cargo to two daughter vessels. Due to some concerns about the product quality and quantity, we have been appointed to conduct a survey during the Ship To Ship transfer operation in line with both the 'IP petroleum measurement manual" part XVI, section 1 and the "API Manual of petroleum measurement standards", chapter 17.
Upon mother vessel arrival,

  • Finding Ullages – Temperature – Interface (Water detection)
  • Cargo calculation
  • Cargo sampling from vessel's tanks prior to discharge: from vessels tanks :
Samples to be taken at 3 levels of the tanks: bottom-middle-upper part.
  • Bunker survey
  • Inspection of F.P.T. / cofferdams/void spaces/etc.

Our achievements

We already conducted several surveys such as:

  • Draught Surveys
  • Petroleum cargo surveys
  • Collision / Damage surveys
  • Compass adjusting, etc.

We are proud to have fully satisfied clients
